Ricky spent the last decade working in kitchens, starting his career in Melbourne before making his way over to the West Coast. Over the years he developed his skills as a head chef, met growers and producers who are passionate about good food. All of his down time was invested in pickles, eating pickles, perfecting his brine, trialing different cucumbers, tweaking recipes here and there…
We noticed a lot of imported pickles on our supermarket shelves and made it our mission to try them all, they just didn’t cut the mustard. We were looking for the perfect jar of crunchy, well balanced, Australian made pickles, that didn’t have any additives or firming agents, and decided the best thing to do was make them our selves.
Flavour is at the heart of what we do, passion and time is spent combining premium ingredients to create these products. We hope you find a place for them in your daily kitchen and enjoy them as much as we do.
We choose to support small growers & producers in Western Australia.
The relationships we have built with numerous small growers and producers has resulted in us having access to the freshest produce in season, small trial crops, local honey, interesting heirloom vegetables and gives us the ability to purchase seconds, or vegetables that won’t go to market. At the moment we are pickling cucumbers from a grower who cant sell a percentage of the fruit to supermarkets as the cucumbers have grown into interesting and unusual shapes. For us this is perfect, they are so fresh, crunchy and delicious and we are bottling these quirky guys up and calling them QUIRKLES.
